Friday's Northwest-Mason game will be the teams' 20th meeting

Friday's football game between Jackson Northwest and Mason will be the 20th meeting between the two schools.

It's a natural rivalry, given the proximity of the schools.

They first played in 1975. The Mounties won that game, 15-14. See Rivals archive for all of the scores.

As previously stated, though, the Bulldogs are very tough this year.

Massey Ratings is predicting a 41-17 Mason win.

Massey predicts easy Lansing Sexton win over Northwest

The Massey Ratings computer predicts Lansing Sexton will beat Northwest by three touchdowns -- 37-18.

See prediction here.

Of course, the Massey computer was wrong last week when it picked Belleville to beat the Mounties.

St. Johns is the only common opponent so far this year that both Northwest and Lansing Sexton have faced. The Mounties lost to St. Johns in Week 2, 35-20, while Sexton fell to them Friday, 35-28 in overtime. Redwings win thriller in overtime.

It'll be a tough one for the Mounties on Friday. But a three touchdown difference seems a bit much.

In fact, if the Mounties play their best ball of the season the game appears winnable. Perhaps their underdog status will inspire them.
